The app has been embraced by the IU String Academy through a regular concert each year in the summer program for the last decade, featuring a full program of students who rehearse and perform with the computer-generated orchestra.

Cadenza has been adopted by many faculty and students in the Jacobs School of Music for teaching, practice and performance. Cadenza is originally known as 'Informatics Philharmonic', coined by Mimi Zweig, professor at the Jacobs School of Music and director of the Summer String Academy. The IU Jacobs School of Music (JSoM) is one of the most comprehensive and acclaimed institutions for the study of music in the United States. He has also been called upon to serve as a rehearsal conductor for the Lima Symphony and Springfield Youth Symphony and interim conductor of the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra.Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University Bloomington In the past Tim has led ensembles for Theatre Under the Stars, Bowling Green State University, Florida State University, Northern Kentucky, the Dayton Ballet Orchestra, Miami University, and Ohio Northern University. To add to an already daunting schedule, he is often called upon to serve as conductor/music director for various ensembles. He is also often called upon as a tuba soloist, and has performed throughout the United States and in Scandinavia and Asia. He regularly tours with the Ambassador Brass Quintet and Keith Brion’s New Sousa Band.

As a chamber musician, he can be heard with various faculty brass quintets, the Queen City Brass, and All the King’s Tubas, a professional tuba quartet.

He has recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops Orchestras. He has also given masterclasses at Indiana University/Purdue University of Fort Wayne, Nazareth College, Edinboro University, the Tubonium Conference in Minnesota, and recently returned for his fourth masterclass at the Eastman School of Music.Īn extremely active tubist, Tim has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Lima, Columbus, Springfield, Middletown, Toledo, Kentucky, Tallahassee and Hamilton-Fairfield Symphonies, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Cincinnati Opera Orchestra. In addition, he has served as an instructor for the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. He has served on the faculty of Bowling Green State University, Northern Kentucky University, God’s Bible College, Adrian College, Wittenberg University, Miami University, and Ohio Northern University. Focusing first on arranging and orchestration, he has now started dabbling in composition. As an educator, Tim taught for three years for Versailles Schools before moving on to collegiate teaching. With this came a career direction change. Starting in 2015 Tim became a stay-at-home dad to take care of his twin 4-year-old daughters. His music career has developed in several areas including performing, teaching, conducting and arranging. He has since earned his Master’s of Music Performance at Miami University, and then attended Florida State University for doctoral work. Tim Olt is originally from Dayton, Ohio and completed his Bachelor’s of MusicEducation at Wright State University.
